History

Hotel Ozinga was the former stadsherberg in Sneek, known for it friendly atmosphere that from 1930 to 1996 was mainly determined by hotel owner Jikke Ozinga. She was born on March 20, 1906, had the nickname "Ma Jikke" and enjoyed years of fame as the oldest hotel proprietor of the Netherlands.

From 1930 until her death she held sway over the old town inn on the Lemmerweg in Sneek. Because of her outstanding personality, she was also called the "Queen of Sneek." Many Snekers but also people outside the province have many memories of her.

In 1980 she received a royal honor for her unique guest proprietorship and its resistance activities during the German occupation from 1940 to 1945. On Friday, August 7th, 1996, she was buried in style under great public interest. She wanted to be driven in the carriage of her neighbor and undertaker Aebele de Boer to the cemetery.
